Description

Proscar (generic name: finasteride; brand names include: Propecia) is an antiandrogen.

Proscar is commonly used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Proscar helps:

improve symptoms of BPH
reduce the risk of acute urinary retention
reduce the risk of the need for surgery

Low-dose Proscar may also be used to treat hair loss in men.

Proscar is available in packs of 28 pills manufactured by Merck.

The usual recommended dose for the treatment of BPH is 5 mg once daily.
