Description

Probenecid (brand names include: Bencid / Benuryl) is a uricosuric drug.

Probenecid is used in the treatment of gouty arthritis with frequent attacks of gout, and hyperuricemia associated with gout.

Probenecid prevents attacks of gout by reducing uric acid levels in the blood.

Probenecid may also be used to increase the levels of antibiotics in the blood and increase their effectiveness when treating infections.
